Špičák near Varnsdorf
This picture postcard from the end of the 19th century shows the oldest excursion restaurant on the Špičák-hill opened by Franz Kühnel on July 12, 1898. On the peak to the right of the restaurant we also can see the former wooden outlook platform, built by the local section of the Mountain Association for Northernmost Bohemia.

On this picture postcard from the beginning of the 20th century we see the first restaurant on the Špičák hill after its enlargement demanded by the extraordinary interest of the visitors. But this chalet served only till November 26, 1905, as in the following night it was completely destroyed by fire.

On this picture postcard we see the second restaurant on the Špičák-hill opened towards the end of spring 1906. It was without a lookout tower, but a wide outlook was possible from the windows in the gables. Also this restaurant, however, did not last much longer as it totally burnt out as soon as on July 5, 1915.

This picture postcard shows the third restaurant on the peak of the Špičák-hill. Originally it was constructed in 1930 as a small chalet, but already in 1933 it had to be enlarged according to the great interest of visitors and had also been completed by an lookout tower.

On this winterly picture postcard the third restaurant on the peak of the Špičák-hill is shown. This chalet survived World War Two, but later it was used by the border guard and in the 50s it finally burnt out again.
