Lithographies and overall views

This litography from the turn of the 19th and 20th century shows the view of Varnsdorf from the slopes of the Šibeniční vrch-hill above the railway station. On the pictures below you see on the left the church of St. Peter and Paul on the town square and on the right the Old Catholic Transformation church in the Tyršova ulice-street.
On this picture postcard from the end of the 19th century in the upper part there is the former monument of Emperor Joseph II in the Poštovní ulice-street, the Old Catholic Transformation church and the gymnasium. Below it on the right there is the former Emperor Franz Joseph I.-school at the town square and on the lower left we see the old power station.
This picture postcard shows the town as seen from the Šibeniční vrch-hill not long before 1910. To the right there is the Old Catholic church, to the left in the background over the houses protrudes the tower of the church St. Peter and Paul on the town square and behind the town rises the Hrádek-hill with its excursion restaurant.

In the foreground there is the Poštovní ulice-street with the building of the post-office the reverse side of which is decorated by a great dome on the roof. In the background to the left there is the Hrádek-hill with the excursion-restaurant and its lookout-tower.
On this picture postcard we see the course of the Mandava brook in the town centre between the streets Husova ulice and Barvířská ulice. In the background there ist the church St. Peter and Paul and the hill Hrádek with the hiker's restaurant.
This picture postcard from the years before World War One shows the town with the railway bridge crossing over the Karlova ulice-street in the foreground.
On this picture postcard from 1911 we see the northern part of the town on thefoot of the Hrádek-hill. In the centre of the picture wee see the buildings of the old hospital which later were adapted for barracks.

Square, Streets and open areas

This picture postcard from the second half of the twenties of the 20th century shows the centre of the town with the church of St. Peter and Paul. At the marketplace on the right side of the church is the presbytery and the outstanding building of the school, in the foreground to the left there is the building of the former St. Mary's hospital.
On this after-war picture postcard we see the former magistrate, behind of it the tower of the church of St. Peter and Paulus is rising. On the right side from the church stands the presbytery.
This picture postcard from the years after the war shows the northwestern part of the town square with the great building of the old magistrate's office in which before World War Two the hotel „Börse“ (in German=exchange) was situated. Unfortunately in August 1977 this remarkable house had been demolished.
On this picture postcard from the 50s of the 20th century we see a part of the Národní ulice-street between the town square and the bridge over the Mandava-creek. In the background there is the already not existent old magistrate´s office.
This picture postcard from 1911 shows the central part of the main road called Národní ulice with the adjacent park. In the foreground there is the already demolished house No. 506, in the background the church St. Peter and Paul at the market place and the Hrádek-hill are seen.
On this picture postcard you see the war memorial which stood opposite to the park in the Národní ulice-street.
This picture postcard from the beginning of the 20th century shows the monumental houses along of the main street (Národní ulice-street). In the foreground there is the house No. 512 built in 1798. In the 90s of the 20th century this house had been renovated and since then it is protected as a historic monument and serves the primary art school. On the right side of the end of the street we see the house No. 506 the original seat of the textile company Hanisch in which since 1930 was the municipal public library. After World War Two the house went to wreck and in 1977 it was demolished.
On this picture postcard the at present Národní ulice named street with the former hotel „Blauer Stern“ on its corner with the Husova ulice-street (right).

Churches and important buildings

On this picture postcard from the half of the 20th century the barocque church St. Peter aud Paul finished in 1776 is shown. In this church on June 29, 1830 the first full performace of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis took place.
This picture postcard shows the front of the post office building built in 1899 in the Poštovní ulice-street.
This picture postcard shows the objects of the former St. Joseph hospital in the Nemocniční ulice-street. On the top is the main building of the hospital, below the its ophthalmic clinic. Later both the buildings were used as barracks.

This picture postcard from 1912 shows the church of St Charles Borromaeus designed by Anton Möller and built from 1904 to 1911. The tower had not been finished till present days.
