Sloup castle and Poustevnický kámen

On this picture postcard from 1906 there is an overall view from the look-out place Na Stráži of the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock) with the buildings of the former seignorial farm at its foot (right). In the farm buildings formerly there was a mirror-grinding manufacture and behind it there is the now already destroyed building of the old castle called Berkovský zámek. Between the fields in the background are the houses of the village Janov.
This picture postcard shows the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock) in the 50s of the 20th century. In the area of the former Berka castle then stood only the heavily devastated main building which later in 1959 was also demolished.
On this picture postcard from 1906 there is an overall view of the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock) from the East. The rooms carved into the sandstone rock were made mainly between the years 1690 and 1710.

On this postcard beside the overall view of the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock) you see a picture of the sculpture of the hermit Samuel Görner standing on the eastern edge of the summit of the rock tower.
This postcard shows the (at present inaccessible) castle's courtyard on the northern side of the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock). Between the openings of the rooms carved into the rock there are steps leading into a narrow fissure into the rock walls of which is carved the so-called knights' staircase leading to the summut of the rock.

On the upper left side there is the place with the famous old beech-tree with the names of famous visitors engraved into its bark, in the centre the place with the lantern of the rock-chapel and the openings of the artificial caves, on the right side the spur with the sculpture of the hermit Samuel Görner. In the lower row there is an overall view of the rock tower and the interior of the chapel carved into its rock.
On this picture postcard there are several interesting places of the Poustevnický kámen (Hermite-rock). To the upper left is an overall view of the rock tower, the small gallery on its southern wall and the interior of the chapel carved into the rock. In the lower centre there is the spur with the sculpture of the hermit Samuel Görner and the place with the famous great beech-tree, on the sides there are several of the carvings engraved into the walls of the rooms in the rock.

On this picture postcard from 1883 there is an overall view of the rock with the hermitage. In former times it was generally assumed that the hermitage was built into the rooms of a former castle.
