Inmidst of the houses there is the second Niesner´s weaving mill standing on the place where at presentdays there is the open-air cinema. This picture postcard from the beginning of the 20th century shows the upper part of the market place, looking rather as a narrow street between the former seignorial house (left) and the hotel „Golden Lion“ (right). The Neorenaissance building of the hotel was together with some neighbouring houses demolished at the beginning of the eighties of the 20th century.

This picture postcard shows the monumental building of the hotel „Golden Lion“ which in former times was the dominant of the market place. After World War II it went to ruins and was 1981 demolished together with all the neighbouring houses.

This interesting picture postcard from 1957 shows the western part of the town square with the attractive bulding of the now nonexistent hotel „Zum Goldenen Löwen“. In the small park on the place of the former manor house in those years stood a statue of J.V.Stalin.

On this picture postcard from 1914 the southwestern part of the market square is shown with the town-hall and the hotel „Zum Goldenen Löwen“ (Golden Lion) which, together with all of the neighbouring houses in 1981 had been demolished. In the park in front of the hotel there is the the first monument of J. V. Stalin in the former Tchechoslowak Republic built as soon as November 1948.

This picture postcard shows the upper part of the former main road to Svor. On the left you see the villa and the mechanical weaving-mill of Joseph Wenzel, in the lower cut there is the „Emperor Franz Joseph I - Jubilee sanatorium for tuberculous children“ from 1910 which in the thirties of the 20th century had been liberally enlarged to an „State sanatory for tuberculous children“.

This picture postcard shows the central part of the present-day Komenský-street which, however at present looks differently. The timbered house with the decorated Cross disappeared and also the two next houses on the right side of the street had been demolished.

On this picture postcard you see the lower part of the at present Komenského ulice called street which in the 30s of the 20th century already was not in accordance wit the growing demands of the traffic and, therefore, was radically widened and almost al the houses on the right side except the first two ones were demolished.

This picture postcard from 1914 shows the once tranquil Station road (now Ulice Čs. armády) leading to Sloup. In 1970 this road was immediately behind the last houses cut by the then newly-built bypass road, and the railroad from Svor in the foreground, originally opened September 1st, 1886, after 1973 had been liquidated.

On this picture postcard from the second half of the twenties of the 20th century there is the former Station-street leading from the market place to the south. In the foreground you see the then „County house“, in the house behind of it (in the middle of the picture) there is the establisment of Rössler's manufacture of soda-water and vinegar which, among other things, also produced delicious mustard.

This picture postcard shows the old Kostelní ulice (Church lane) at the market place. Whereas the houses on the right side including the old town-hall are standing till the present days the whole left side was demolished in 1978 in the course of the broadening ot the street so that the town received another deep incision.

On this picture postcard from 1913 the former Zittau-street with the Art Nouveau-building of the former hotel „Reichshof“, which after World War Two was renamed to „Sever“ (North), are shown. Later this atractive building had been depreciated by an insensitive „modenization“, since the nineties of the 20th century it was out of use and had to wait till 2011 for its reconstruction.

This picture postcard from 1906-1907 shows one part of the formerly splendid Zittau-street. The restaurant „Deutsches Haus“, shown on the right side of the foreground, after the end of World War Two had been demolished, both the houses behind of it were insensitively reconstructed and the hotel „Reichshof“ at the end of the lane, nowadays named „Sever“ (=North) dilapidated until 2011 when it was reconstructed.

On this picture postcard two old streets of the town are shown. Whereas the look-out of the Žitavská ulice-street (left) after World War Two heavily did suffer from the reconstruction and demolishion of several houses the present Kolárova ulice (right) retained its look which it got after the great conflagration of 1820.

On this picture postcard the old road to Jablonné near of the bridge over the Boberský potok brook is shown. Almost all the houses shown were later demolished, at present remains only the two-storeyed house at the right corner. In the background there is the Zelený vrch hill.

This picture postcard shows the houses standing along of the Boberský potok brook between the new housing estate and the houses in the street Žitavská ulice. The weawing mill in the background, built in 1884 by Gustav Niessner, became one of the first victim of the Depression and had been demolished already in 1934 but its smaller building survived to present days.

On this postcard from 1925 there is the church St. Elisabeth at Cvikov. The tower was added to the church later and it is told that it had been constructed of sandstone blocks quarried at the nearby Dutý kámen-ridge.

On the left side we see the houses of the Čechova ulice street which at present immediately at the school is crossed by the newly built bypass road.

On this picture postcard from the years before World War One you see the monumental building of the primary and lower secondary schools. The motorcar before it possibly belongs to the then parish priest Bensch who used it to drive into the neighbouring villages where he held religious classes.

This picture postcard from the years around World War Two shows the building of the former hotel „Zur Stadt Rumburg“ at the Komenského street. In most hotels then it was possible to hire a car - in this house to this purpose served two cars „Tatra“.

This picture postcard shows the attractively built villas in the street at present called Nerudova-street. Whereas the more distant Niessner's villa between 1983 and 1893 had been reconstructed and adapted for a community centre, the second villa in the foreground had to wait for its reconstruction till 2005, as is documented by the lower foto from that year.

On this picture postcard there is the former restaurant „Zur Sonne“ (Sun), No. 169 in the street now named Kollárova ulice. For several years before World War Two it belonged to the family Weikert and some years after the war there was the restaurant „U Sadílků“. The lower fotograf of the house is from 2003.

This picture postcard shows one of the pavillons of the former pulmonary hospital founded 1905 by Dr. Horner below the Calvary hill as one part of the hospital. The house is standing till now but later reconstructions significantly altered its appearance.

On this picture postcard from the 30s of the 20th century there are the buildings of the then general and pulmonary hospital on the margin of the town below the Calvary hill. The hospital, which originated 1879 from the former town hospital thanks to the then burgermeister J. F. Knobloch, served till the end of World War Two. In 1996, a community care service was opened in it.

On this picture postcard from 1917 there is the municipal brewery built in 1867 on the road leading to Jablonné. The Hoffman's-pond shown in the foreground was used as swimming-pool with boat-hiring and was liquidated at about 1938.

This picture postcard shows the mechanic weawing mill of Josef Niessner in the outskirts of Cvikov. Until the outbreak of the economic crisis this factory employed about 900 workers and 560 home workers. During the war it was converted to war production and after 1945 it served to the polygraphic production of the Grafostroj company.

This miniature water mill was one of the group of attractions in the valley formerly called Franzensgrund, a popular excursion resort of the inhabitants of Cvikov. At present this place is part of the children´s sanatory below the Calvary hill.
